Family, friends, and the holidays all go together like peanut butter and jelly. Like stuffed french toast, and good, warm maple syrup. Sometimes they’re fun, and sometimes they’re painful. Now, those that know me personally, know Yo Momma likes to have fun.

Dadda loves woodworking, knows what type of wood every piece of furniture is in our house. He gets it from his father. They built many pieces of furniture together over the years. Many years ago, his parents gave us a Victrola, circa 1906 when they ran out of room in their house. The lamp in the photo was a wedding present, a Hilliard family heirloom. LOVE IT, found someone to refinish it for me years ago! The record is from my grandfather’s house, I took the collection when my Aunt B was emptying his house.

Ahhh, the things we cherish in life…. above all it’s my family and friends. I am blessed to have many of them in my life. This year, in addition to Dadda, Thomas and Joe, I have my beautiful daughter Rachel, and my wonderful friend Susanne to spend the holiday with.

Yesterday, us girls got all gussied up and went to see the Carolina Ballet’s performance of the Nutcracker. It was a beautiful performance, and I was so happy we went. Susanne had never been to a ballet before, and I was so tickled she enjoyed the show.

Holidays are a time of nostalgia for Yo Momma, sometimes you miss those that have passed and those who are far away (the painful part). Now I want to wish all those still in my life the very Merriest of Holidays! May you all be blessed in your lives, and cherish the ones you are fortunate to have in your life.

Take care my friends! I’ll be back soon, so stay turned while I take a short break. Why you ask? Because I got a new laptop for my business. I have a LOT of files I need to transfer (My old one has seen some hard use, another PAINFUL PART)!
